Saul changed on the road to Damascus, not Paul people.

*3 1/2 stars. I completely understand that phrase now. I will probably also be the annoying person that corrects folks by saying his name was Saul not Paul at the time, lol. First I'd like to state this review does not hold any religious bias, and is judged only on the art and deliverance of the story. While the chapters were all episodic the beginning ones were more so, housing a single story within two pages that had nothing to do with the last or the following chapter, making things jarring, and a tad confusing at times. Since the story bounced around the characters similarly did, making it hard to get attached to one or another. This changed once Saul/Paul came into the picture, then things evened out and had more of a plot and development rather than Individual tales, which was much more enjoyable in my opinion. I also enjoyed the art more this time around, the style better matched the vibe of the stories. I had hope that Peter would have more page time, I thought he would have been an interesting character, and partially because he reminds me of someone I know. Overall I liked the volume, though some terminology was slightly confusing, I believe that it's just due to my lack of biblical knowledge.

Awesome series

I wish I had these when I was growing up. These two manga novels (Manga Messiah and Manga Metamorphosis) are awesome. They are translated from the original Japanese and drawn in genuine manga style (manga basically means Japanese comic book). The art is fantastic and they endeavoured to make it as accurate as possible, including scripture references at the bottom of each page. They are the size of a standard paperback book, and just as thick with full-colour art on every page. You don't have to be a teen to enjoy these, they really bring to life the events in the New Testament. Manga Messiah details Jesus's life in the gospels, while Manga Metamorphosis is the entire book of Acts (that's Paul on the front cover), plus illustrated summary versions of Paul's letters. Our heroes of the Faith never looked more awesome. Highly recommended for all.

Great Biblical Graphic Novel!

I was looking forward to Manga Metamorphosis with great anticipation after getting Manga Messiah (which was amazing!). This book seeks to be true to the Bible just like the first book. It's simplified so that it is a more accessible missionary tool as well as easier to understand for those who have never read scripture. The quality of the entire package, illustrations, text, computer coloring and presentation is top notch. There are other Christian graphic novels, but I don't know of any (in english) which stand up to Manga Messiah and Manga Metamorphosis. I also like that the company sends hundreds of copies to places not as exposed to the Bible in hopes of helping to spread the Word. This is a great book for those who read the Bible regularly and those who have never read it. Get Both BOOKS!
