Marching to the beat of a different drum...Tired of the beauty-pagean circuit, Virginia Sauter tosses her tiara, pierces her nose, and auditions for the most unlikely of roles -- drum major of the high school marching band.Virginia wins, but is forced to share the title with Drew, whose family has held the position for generations. Band Geeks Like No Others

Take Virginia, ex-beauty pageant queen and current CO-drum major. Then there's Drew, farmer boy and also the CO-drum major. That means the two of them have to work together. When they hate each other? Yeah, right. But they have to get along, and who says that won't lead anywhere? This book was great! I read it so quickly, because you really want to find out what happens next. So realistic and romantic. You can spot a little bit of mystery in there, too, involving the rumors about ... well, just read this book. It's a great romantic comedy. After reading this one and Animal Attraction by Jamie Ponti, I'm pretty eager to check out the rest of the Simon Romantic Comedies. Great book!

Makes you feel the heat-- on the field and off

In her YA debut Jennifer Echols hits all the right notes, if you'll forgive the pun, with her story of Virginia and Drew and why they just can't get along. Then can. What makes this story work is the obvious love that Jennifer has for her subject in marching bands and the depth that she gives each of the main characters. They're inherently nice kids, but at the same time aren't portrayed as simple, two-dimensional cardboard cutouts. Each of the main characters has a difficult, potentially life-changing issue they're dealing with and they find that in each other, they have a confidante and a friend. Can't wait for your encore, Jennifer!

One time at band camp....

The story opens at the first halftime show. Drum majors Drew and Virginia cant get along, and it shows in the performance. Drew wants the position to himself, like he had it last year. Virginia has had a crush on him for 3 years and wants him to just acknowledge that she exists! Mr. Rush, the new director tells them to work it out or they'd both be fired. Will they ever learn to get along, or will they run their award winning band into the ground?

Major Crush

It was awesome!I'd read another book and i saw a preview for it and i had to have it so i went out and bought and read it in one day! It is so good you'll wish there was more to it (i know i do) well hope you read it and enjoy it. Oh and Miss Echols(or Mrs.) I loved your book it was a spectacular treat!:-) I hope you write others like it. i also recommend Tropical Kiss if you enjoyed Major Crush they are the best romance books of the summer!

A Trifecta of a book!

MAJOR CRUSH has everything you could want in a book: Great characters, a fast paced, multifaceted plot, and great humor. I found myself laughing out loud at a few spots, and then having to explain to those sitting near me why I had laughed. MAJOR CRUSH features a beauty pageant queen who just became the first girl drum major-- much to the chagrin of Drew, who now has to share the position with her. Add in a little romantic tension, some amazing secondary characters, and a secret or two, and you'll be hooked on Jennifer Echol's debut novel. Five stars. :-)
