In the wake of the US President's assassination, the vice-president follows through with the administration's plans to reveal the existence of aliens to the world, thereby pitting humanity against what they all now see as the alien aggressors.
a good ending to an incredible series. heartwarming and all that. sad and all that. i think the manga handles the ending maybe a bit better than the anime did.
Bittersweet and joyful end to the series

Mahoromatic Vol. 8 ties up the war between the Keepers, Vesper, and Saint. It also shows Mahoro and Suguru express the love between them, and ultimately face the inevitable. In some ways this series has been a study on humanity, its desires, weeknesses, flaws, and strengths. What will man do when pending doom is upon them? What happens to those who continue to pursue aggression over peace? For fans of the anime, the manga follows a different path to the same style of ending. But with quite a bit more exposition, this ending is fulfilling and much more rewarding. So much more is explained, and Suguru is much more tolerable, and untimately...human.
