A pretty good book

I thought this book was a good read in general. I liked the storyline and the characters. It's exciting and fast paced. Easy to read and understand. I strongly suggest you read this event-filled journey.

Abstract and Inventive

This coming of age tale is a masterful abstract novel. The details are great, and describe the things in a way that really lets your imagination take over and place the images in your mind. The story is great and is marvellously inventive. There are some heartwarming moments, some fearful moments, some moments of pure enjoyment, and its always fun. This is a great young adult novel for all genders.

Great book for all ages

Journey Beyond the Beyond is a great book for children all around to read and to enjoy. It is a great book for older and teenagers to read too. It is about a boy who has to journey alone into the wild, and his adventures on the way to the place lost and deep.

A magical journey begins...

People rave about C.S. Lewis's Narnia or this book or that, but few books compare to this one. Magic Lands is the story of Ray, a young man from a village who must set on a journey to prove he is a man. Ray's journey is a right of passage for his people, and like rights of passages for various peoples in our own world, Ray must undergo many tests along the way. These tests challenge his will, his mind, his very self, and help him to grow and mature. Before passing judgement on what is clearly the best children's book in many years, the book should be read and understood in this context. My children had no problems with the story and were wide-eyed alert during our evenings readings. It must also be pointed out that this is the first of several books in a series. As a series introduction, this book is far better than anything else I've read. Bravo, Robert Stanek! You are the best of best of the modern storytellers.

Magic Lands is a Good book

I always appreciate it when books take me to a place I've never been. Magic Lands absolutely does that in this wonderful journey through a water-filled land. Ray is a wonderful character, as is Kerry. Ray is a young man who must set out alone from his village. He must find the place lost and deep, which is what he sets out to do. Along the way he has various encounters with strange beasts and learns how to do things independently. This is a truly remarkable, well-written story that is well worth reading--and that includes "adults". Anyone of any age will enjoy the story of Ray and Kerry.
