Sally searches for a missing doll in a dusty attic, behind old doors, and down the corridors of time in this delightful blending of the true and fanciful.--Parents. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I read this book over and over as a kid of eight or nine - it was an especially good book to curl up with when I was feeling lonely or blue. My dog-eared copy gave out finally, and I never could find another. Often I have been sad that I couldn't share some of the most beloved stories populating my imagination as a kid with my daughter. Imagine my joy when this lovely book came available again! I'm not ashamed to say I was emotional and shed a few tears of happiness (a good book will do it to me every time). And, of course, I bought a copy for my little girl, to whom I'm going to read it aloud. This book is sweet without being cloying, it's an adventure mystery without villains or violence, it's a puzzle to be solved without competition, it's a "growing up" book without preachiness. It's charm is boundless. Adults will enjoy it, I think, as much as their children. Good reading!
Magical Storytelling

I read this book for the first time when I was 10 years old and reread it many, many times that year. It was my very favorite book. Unfortunately, I lost my original copy but the story has stayed with me for over 30 years. It is a wonderfully evocative story and a treasure for those who love history and mystery. I plan to find another copy soon and reread it. I have two daughters aged three and one, and I look forward to when they're old enough to read and enjoy the truly magical journey that this amazing book takes you on.

I have been looking for this book for years! I read it in 5th grade for a book report and have always wanted to read it again (even if it is a child's book). I am now 32 with 2 young boys. I can't wait to get this new reprint in the mail. Children will love it. I am going to be reading to my sons as part of our bedtime story reading. I am SOOOOO excited!
I found it again! and now my daughter can enjoy it!

I read this book when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade and have been searching for it ever since...kind of like looking for the magical doll herself, Elizabeth. Now, almost 30 years later, I am reading it with my 8-year-old daughter. She loves the story as much as I did...and her name is Emily just like Sally's friend. What an adventure to search through an old attic of trunks and dusty treasures of a century ago. Norma Kassirer brings your imagination right into each scene with her vivid descriptions. Read this book and enjoy it for generations!
