A psychological thriller written in the eighties about a man who grows up watching TV, literally 24/7. Gavin Risen becomes so involved in the programs that he wants to program himself into a TV show. He comes up with an idea on how to do this and creates a show that the whole world tunes in to. Richard Breen gets into the mind of Gavin and we the reader, live life for two hundred pages as Gavin. I enjoyed the book immensely, however I got somewhat tired of the continuous mentions of old movie icons. I was somewhat surprised during the planning of Gavin's plans, that he thought of the idea of flying his plane into the World Trade Center. As you might remember, this act occurred in 2001 and this book was written in the eighties. Did Mr.Breen have future insight, pre-conceived idea, or just a fantasy? Either way, I found it to be preceptive and a unique read on his thoughts, and after the facts of 2001, Mr. Breen's perspective on how the world would perceive such an act came true. I am going to search out some of his other books, since I enjoyed this one so much.
