Understand macroeconomic theory, research and policy with Greg Mankiw's trademark clarity. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I use this book in my economics class and all I can say is that is excellent. The author describes the basic concepts without being too complicated and messy. He keeps the things simple and incorporates some real-life economic problems and discussions into each chapter. The book overall provides a clear insight into microeconomics and shows what it is all about.
Clear and Concise. The Best Textbook Ever!

This is easily one of the best textbooks I have ever read. Uncluttered and elegant, it keeps you focused on what's important. The long run macro section is simply unsurpassed, and a pleasure to read. However, the book's exceptional clarity also has the (perhaps intended) effect of exposing the weaknesses of Keynesian short run macroeconomics which is what is taught to most undergraduates, and which is what is covered in this book. Teaching Keynesian macroeconomics to undergraduates, especially at the level that it is usually taught (mindless, unintuitive curve pushing) is unpardonable. I think a better approach to short run macro would be the less popular, slightly harder, but in the end clearer and more accurate market-clearing approach of Barro's "Macroeconomics". That said, let me repeat again that Mankiw is a FABULOUS book, and quite simply the best book for the standard material covered in most undergraduate macroeconomics classes.
Best textbook I have EVER read

I have read at least one hundred textbooks for my undergraduate and graduate courses and this book is the BEST text book I have ever read. In general, I never liked economics, but this book made me think, understand, and like economics. The true triumph of this book is its simplication. Instead of explaining the details of Macroeconomics (which most econ textbooks tries to do) the author brilliantly pulls the reader into thinking about economics in more detail than what the book presents. Makiew is not only a consummate economist, but he is a consummate writer as well.
Extremely Well Done

This book makes Economics extremely accessible -it was the first textbook I've ever encountered that was actually a "good read." Anyone taking an Intro Macroeconomics class should have a copy of this book (even if the course textbook is different). Extremely well written and clear.

I have used Mankiw to teach macroeconomics and have found that my students are consistently pleased with the book. They also learn the right material, well using this text.
