Very Enlightening & Inspiring

Lust Under the Veil The author has done a beautiful job of taking the reader into a Middle Eastern home and showing what life is really like, not only for women, but also for men. Emira draws you in from the very beginning, and I had difficulty putting the book down. There is much to love about this book, and I would encourage people to read it. It is definitely enlightening and inspiring.

Understanding the muslim culture

I read this book on the recommendation of a close friend. After reading this book, I feel a sense of understanding about the women. Although, I know this book is somewhat fictitional, I am drawn to the "Hope and Light" the women find. It is well written and easy to relate for many women.

You have to read this book!

I would highly recommend this book for all those who wish to have real insight into the Middle East as seen through the eyes of a woman. As a Middle Eatern-American woman myself, I can testify to the authenticity of the material in this book. Although it is fictional, it is very realistic. It is a must read not only because it will capture you and force you to keep reading it till u know the ending, but because it gives you a glimpse in to the life that women, like the main charatcer, experience on a daily basis. I believe this book offers not only insight, but hope to such women, who might otherwise see themselves as helpless victims of the very patriarchal society they live in. This book will give all of us, living in the West a new understanding of the freedoms we take for granted. I would recommend this book to all who feel they are stuck in walk of life that they feel unable to release themselves from. The message in this book offers real hope to all who read it. It has quickly become a favorite of mine and I hope it will become one of yours.

A fresh, realistic portrayal of Muslim life

Emira is looking for a way of escape from the secluded life she leads as the only daughter of a Muslim sheik. Freedom does come, but not in the way that Emira planned.Due to her years of experience in living in the Muslim world, Um Daoud provides a realistic view of the struggles Muslims face in confronting the Truth of Christ. She presents the reader with great insight into facets of Muslim life in contrast to what is portrayed to the West by the media. In a world of growing, but often distorted awareness of Islam, Lust Under the Veil is a refreshing and enlightening read for anyone who wants to see the reality of life for the average Muslim.
