The Lumberjanes; a camp for hardcore lady-types.

I love that description. At Miss Quinzilla {insert long name here} camp, things are quite different than what they seem. Luckily the girls of Roanoke cabin are here to figure it out why these woods have unique creatures, hidden passages, and a really cool camp director. Okay, that last one is just my curiosity. The adventurous, early teenage characters and the wild world that they live in makes for a very interesting graphic novel. I would have loved to gone to a camp with talking foxes, a flurry hipster yetis, and the mysterious Holy Kitten. I mean, all kittens are magical but a Holy Kitten? Who wouldn't want to get to the bottom of that! The artwork reminds me of the 2000s-early 2010s Cartoon Network animation style, giving me some nostalgia, adding a whimsical element to a already mystical series. I feel like there is nothing highly remarkable of the series so far, but at the same time the girls are pulling you in with their friendship-is-all-powerful and positive attitudes, caring for one another in a almost sisterly way. (Except for Mal and Molly who obviously like-like each other.) Overall I had a really good time reading Lumberjanes and plan on reading further volumes to see if the story gets a little more in depth, see what other adventures the girls have, and learn more of the different girls personalities and lives.

A Fun and Entertaining Graphic Novel

Fun and feisty!

I was SO confused when I started this. Who are these characters? Did I miss something? But I got into a groove with it and I really enjoyed it! Love me some breaking gender stereotypes!

Just gals being pals

This is a lovely story of girl-power and friendship. A bunch of tough, bad ass girls sneaking out of their camp to solve a mystery? YES! A diverse cast of females with realistic friendships? YES! Amazing read for all ages? YES!! Everything about this book is great.
