Luke Bible Study Will Deepen and Enrich Your Faith
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
There are three synoptic gospels, Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Scholars believe Mark was written first, the Gospel of Matthew written second (and primarily for the Jews), and then the Gospel of Luke, written by and for the gentiles. Scholars belive Luke was a gentile physician, and that he accompanied Paul on at least one of his missionary journies. He writes his gospel (and the Book of Acts) to Theophilus, most likely a rich Roman citizen. It appears as though Theophilus appointed or hired Luke to thoroughly investigate the matters concerning the person of Jesus the Messiah, and then to write an orderly and accurate account of his findings. And thus we are blessed with the Gospel of Luke. The Bible scholar, Lewis Foster, takes the student through the Gospel of Luke chapter by chapter, theme by theme, and at times verse by verse. His interpretation of the gospel is traditional, and is a fairly thorough exposition. Foster's explanations of the parables and words of Christ are most illuminating, and give the light of understanding to many difficult passages. He also supplies historical or cultural information that is important to the understanding of a passage or verse. The student of the Bible will be delighted with this study of Luke. It is spiritually sound, and will deepen your faith in Jesus the Christ. It is the first Bible study I have ever did, and it is one of the best I have ever done. I consider Lewis Foster to be a very illuminating and talented writer, with excellent knowledge and insight into the Word of God. I highly recommend any of Mr. Foster's Bible studies, and especially his study on Luke. Jim "Konedog" Koenig
