This book was written about my husband's family so it has even more meaning to me. It is heartbreaking to think of the tirbulations that Lucy faced and did so with an unfailing faith in God. It is a true testament how God can touch one heart and that heart can spread the love through the generations. Please know that when you read this book that her purpose was to talk of her love of Christ and not to bring out any sympathy for the conditions for which she lived in. Our's is a family based on PRIDE and FAITH. Fortunately, we had a wonderful example. Thank you to Carol Kaufman for the beautiful way she got those words out!

This story, based on a real woman's life, is impossible to put down! It walks you through her life as a small child through senior adulthood. The lessons she learned along the way are presented such a way you find yourself visualizing each scene. You will cry, laugh, and anguish over Lucy's life. I first read this book as a 6th grader ( I was/am a bookworm ) and made the mistake of loaning it never to be seen again. I could not begin to describe the joy I felt several Christmas's ago when my mother found a copy and gave it to me.
