The Iraq War haunts two former Army officers and an Army major. Pam has left the Army, feels estranged from her family, and misses her fianc who died in Iraq. An Army major introduces Mark, but tries to dissuade her from befriending Mark by portraying Mark as an inept officer and alcoholic loser. To understand the conflicted relationship between the two men, Pam must discover what they did together in the Iraq War and disclose her own wartime experiences. Her search requires that she face the issues raised by war -grieving, coping with death, killing the enemy, and being responsible for the lives of other soldiers. She is finally able to disclose her own wartime actions, and cope with the posttraumatic stress she experiences from the war.
