Neither my husband nor I are expert builders. However, we do have basic wood working skills, so when we ran across this book on the internet we decided to buy it, because we found so very few books that addressed what we were looking for. When my husband and I actually read the book we were pleasantly surprised at how detailed the instructions were. We both agreed there wasn't a single part of the book that was not completely understood. The author wrote this book on a level that anyone can easily understand. In addition, there are several pictures and drawings in the book that make it easier to picture what is being described. Would I recommend this book? Yes, because if my husband and I (who have very little experience) easily followed this book, then anyone can. Please also keep in mind that the author is giving instruction on "basic" shelters, meaning nothing remotely close to the Ritz-Carlton. We especially liked his idea of the underground shelter. It is a basic plan that can be constructed very inexpensively. If you own property somewhere and want to build a good quality shelter on it, try this book out. As long as you are not looking for luxury, then you may discover that this book has what you are looking for w/regard to basic, simple earth shelter building plans. We found what we were looking for, and will probably begin the building process soon. This book gave good ideas and will most likely be used throughout the building process as a reference.
