counseling is quite a labor of love...

This book is very well written by Dr. Greben, and it is a necessary read for all who enter the counseling field. This book legitimizes the feelings and experiences of counselors in the real world as opposed to all of the book learning that is encountered before actually seeing clients. There is a marked difference between what is learned in class and what is actually encountered in therapy sessions, and Dr. Greben's book does an excellent job of portraying real life therapy experiences for the new counselor. Please note, though: this book should not be read before a new therapist has actually begun seeing clients; otherwise, it may cause confusion and contradiction in the classroom. It is not for beginners, nor for the faint of heart.
