I admit I read the original Irish language version of this story which is titled "Suil le Breith" or "Waiting for judgment" The Irish word "breith" also translates as "birth" which gives the title a pun that is not translatable into English. In any event, the story is engaging and was difficult to put down. There are several subplots involving interesting characters in the Village or the Island and enough sex and humor to make the book interesting for most people. I would recommend it for light weekend reading.
