Beautifully written!

I throughly enjoy Jeanne McCanns books. I do have my favorites of course and this happens to be one of them. The way she ties in each of the romances of each friend is clever and smooth. The only thing that could of made it better was that the stories didn't end!

Romantic and Hot!

This is the kind of book you want to read with your lover in the room, or better yet, to your lover. You won't be able to finish it. You have 4 novellas that build on each other but are complete by themselves. The editing could have been better and it was a little distracting when "then" was used instead of "than" so many times. But, honestly, the sex was so hot and plentiful that it more than made up for the distraction. This is not erotica but romance in it's purest sense. I loved it.

Four romances - four first times - what's not to love?

This is another delightful book from this author. It is actually 4 novelettes. The story opens with four tightly knit friends at a time in their lives when all are single. The first story is very original with tall gorgeous Emma a counselor at the local high school becoming friends with the new straight (she thinks) principal, Melinda. Melinda is not her supervisor but due to a prior relationship Melinda is avoiding romance like the plague. When Emma and Melinda fall in love their romance burns up the page. Their story takes a dramatic turn when their discreet relationship is learned of by a couple of bigots who, sadly, are on the school board. The next romance is between Van, a designer, and Cara, a police detective and member of the SWAT team. They fall head over heels in love (Cara has a wicked sense of humor) but have to work through the insecurity that Cara has with her salary being so much less than Van's, while Van wants to lavish Cara and their relationship with wonderful things because she can. Also, Van is afraid of entering a relationship that has the potential to hurt her emotionally if it doesn't work. They are very appealing in their nervousness when their relationship deepens. The love scenes are very erotic and flow beautifully with the story. Tia is a successful executive and Catherine (divorced with a 3 year old daughter)is Tia's neighbor who works as nurse. Their story is immensely appealing with gentle humor and a strong romance that is totally hot. Their story takes a surprising twist when Catherine's ex-husband reacts to their committed relationship by threatening to seek custody of the child. This is how Anna, an engineer for an aerospace company, meets Michael, a lawyer found by Melinda to handle the child custody case. Both are hesitant to say the 'L' word fearing the other is not interested in a life time commitment. I especially liked the stories for the wonderful mix of people: middle class, working class, upper class, straights, Latino, Irish, and divorced with children. Save this novel for a rainy day when a good dose of romance is what you crave.
