Still one of the best methods around

This book was written 24 years ago (date of review 3/7/03) but was decades ahead of it's time. The methods Ed Beckman suggests were recently adopted by the Denver Dumb Friends League as well as many other notable trainers and organizations. Beckman's positive techniques allowed me to start training my 8 week old pup without choke chains and reprimands. I had instant success and my pooch is not an easy learner. Many contemporary methods being used today are based on "Love, Praise, and Reward" and they are more advanced. I love this book because it is the original technique in it's most simple and basic form. It is an easy read with great positive suggestions for behavior problems.If you are inexperienced in training, this is the best book to start with. It is worth the effort trying to track down a copy.
