I found this book at a book swap in a British influenced country...NZ. I really enjoyed reading it and feel lucky to have discovered this author. The story does take place in the rhelm of the Church of England [main character is a new and developing woman priest] but the characters are wordly, interesting and well written. It is not preachy and deals with current issues in society. The story blossoms as the book goes on....just when you thing the main character is too repressed to be interesting any more, the story becomes more quickly paced and deeper in relevance. The characters also become more dynamic. American readers of the Mitford series would enjoy this book. I can't imagine this book being of interest to too many men but I can well see it being a little know book for womens discussion groups. I would recommend it to my own but I am presently on a sailboat. It will bne shared with other cruisers I meet.
