"Outrageous, breathless, voluble, fast-moving, funny . . . and always mercilessly candid." Chicago Tribune. For eight glorious years, Naomi Judd and daughter Wynonna lived the American dream. Signed by RCA in 1983 after a rare live audition, they became country music's most honored and successful women -- winning six Grammys and selling more than fifteen million albums. Then the discovery of a life-threatening liver disease forced Naomi to retire. The Farewell tour of the Judds broke America's heart and ended one of the most beloved country music acts of all time. But Naomi never gave up. And here, at last, is her story, as touching as any of her songs: the true story of a mother and daughter who sang like angels and fought like devils, but loved each other through struggle, tragedy and triumph.
After hearing that Naomi went to Eastern Kentucky University- where I graduated from with a degree in nursing, I wanted to buy her book. I was touched at all the obstacles that she had to overcome. Like being a non-traditional student. I was a Resident Assistant at a dorm for non-traditional students. I admire her courage to stand up to the plate and go for her dream. This courage and drive has been transmitted to Ashley and Wynonna too. They are all very powerful and inspirational women of faith! I have included her book in my listmania, "Books That Have A Bang!"
A True-to-Life Bible Story For All!

This is the intense, yet comical, yet real life story of the famous duo, The Judds. From the beginning, to Wynonna's solo career. In my life, I have never been inspired after reading a book, but this changed my life. I have always been a huge fan of The Judds, but this proved why. Although it is sometimes hard to swallow some of the things this family had to do to survive, it is apparant througout the autobiography that with love and the lord by your side, even the worse things can be a guiding light and proves that love really can build a bridge.
Miss Naomi struck "the matter of the heart", as usual.

For many years I had the pleasure and the responsibility of teaching future teachers and librarians the genre of Literature for Children, pre-school-grade 3 and juvenile literature, both graduate and undergraduate courses. Based on that background, my adjudication of Miss Naomi's book is 5 star. First, the song itself is an established winner. The art work is the bold, graphic-type that children of that age group prefer. Studies have shown that to be so. The tape then presents Miss Wynonna and Miss Naomi doing what the world so loves. That, too, is a proven fact. Finally, the type font and size also meet the children's preferences. The studies have shown that as well. So, Miss Naomi has scored another winner. I bought it for my own grandchildren. Obviously, I like the book.

The Judds' story is fascinating... They are wonderful people... not perfect, but wonderful! Wynonna, as a singer, is a National Treasure. God knew what He was doing when He gave her that gift... it's in good hands. The Judds are survivors...an inspiring tale of heartache, conflict and LOVE. This is Naomi's reality; Wynonna should write HERS!!!
Excellent! Makes one cry one minute and laugh the next!

As a fan of country music and the Judds I found this book extreemly interesting. I know there are so many rags to riches stories out there, but somehow Naomi makes you feel that this one is different. She wants the fans that love her know about how her life has gone, about the illness that she has and how she is overcoming it. I loved it! It was extreemly moving. Thanks Naomi!!!
