A young preacher feels frustration with his church which is dying on the vine. When his nephew is seriously injured in a car crash, a mysterious woman, an artist with odd visitors at odd hours, visits the nephew, who recovers very quickly. Uncomfortable, his church people whisper about miracles and the pastor visits her to tell her to stay away from the boy. But there's no mistaking the electricity between them, and they eventually fall in love and learn the strengths of each others' disciplines. Through her "he learns a way of helping others as he as always wanted to do" through the power of the Holy Spirit. And she learns the beauty and value of the liturgy. Then an old friend reappears from the past with serious problems, throwing them all into confusion before things are happily resolved. The late Agnes Sanford, once a well-known teacher and lecturer, wrote this in 1953. The style is a little dated, but this story still has great power. One critic said she is New Age because she has written of God's light, as in her book, _The Healing Light_. But he's wrong. She refers to Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior as what He calls Himself: the Light of the World. She talks about God being everywhere in His creation--as in Colossians 1. Her teaching books are of the traditional Trinity, with Jesus as Lord. The first chapter of the Gospel of John talks about this Light. Her characters fulfill the Matthew 10 "whatsoever" of the Great (Approved) Commission of Matthew 28.
