Sophomore Jinx

Miss Halima avoids the sophomore jinx with her follow up novel to Azucar. Right now I have bags under my eyes because I was up all night finishing Los Morenos. Once I started reading I simply could not put it down until I found out how it all ended. As I stated in my review for Azucar, this isn't the genre I normally read but now I'm interested in other books like this. Some of the sex scenes were a little explicit for my taste however I could not take my eyes from the pages. I hope this isn't the end of the Moreno storyline because I've grown attached to the characters. I can't wait for the next book. Bravo!

I wish I could give it more stars

I was one of the privileged people to read Los Morenos when it was still a manuscript and even in its unedited form I knew this was a winner. Shelle, you outdid yourself girl. I love how you draw me into the story and make me feel a part of the action. The characters, plot, twists, and all are off the hook. All prejudice aside, you are now one of my favorite writers. Don't forget me when the next manuscript is ready. Your boy and your fan - Gary.

Whew, you did it girl. You have managed to weave a tail that includes, freaky sex (my personal favorite), humor, surprising twists and shocking people into a very entertaining story. I especially loved the way you brought readers up to date from your first novel Azucar Moreno. Parts of the story had me howling with laughter and others almost made me cry. I still want to kick Crystal's behind! You did the darn thing boo and I can't wait to see what's else comes out of that twisted mind of yours! Tina Brooks McKinney, author.

This book is fabulous. I have read it 3 times already. I can't put it down. This book is better than the first. I hate to say goodbye to the characters. Ms. Halima has really grown in her writing and it really shows in her second book. I am looking forward to her next book as I know it will be a literary treat as this one was for me. WONDERFUL BOOK! A MUST READ!
