LORD RYBURN'S APPRENTICE is a truly heart-warming venture back in time to regency England.

Georgiana Marland is a nineteen-year-old young woman. She has been supporting herself by teaching at the boarding school where her mother had abandoned her three years earlier. While this isn't the life every young woman dreams of, Georgiana is content with her lot in life. Which is about to change since Lady Escott has chosen to take her in as a ward and is determined to present her as an eligible young lady to society. Lord Ryburn is the twenty-seven-year-old great-nephew of Lady Escott. When she chose to take in Georgiana, Lady Escott enlisted Hugh's help to teach her new ward the ways of society and how to be accepted among the upper crust. He's suspicious of Georgiana's background though and is determined to uncover the truth about her mother. Georgiana couldn't believe her luck when she learns of a distant relation willing to take her in. She's under the impression the offer to go to Lady Escott would involve a position of some sort. She has no idea that Lady Escott has intentions of dowering her as well as finding her a husband. The very first time Lady Escott and Georgiana meet, Hugh is present and begins dictating actions becoming a proper young lady. Georgiana is immediately taken with Hugh. His good looks apparently make up for his overbearing instructions on ladylike behavior. Hugh is quickly captivated by this young woman who may not be sophisticated, but her personality, simplicity and caring attitude make the other females of his acquaintance pale in comparison. Laurie Bishop writes poignantly sweet tales. They're full of interesting, often dramatic characters that are a true pleasure to imagine. LORD RYBURN'S APPRENTICE's flamboyant character is definitely Lady Escott. She's just so proper, you can easily envision her taking in Georgiana and ensuring that she becomes a demure young lady. Georgiana is really a simple girl at heart. Her desires are quite simple and while all the fancy clothes and attention are great, she really just wants to know what happened to her mother. Hugh isn't used to dealing with women like Georgiana. The women he normally associates with are more sophisticated and Hugh's confused by his desire for the simple beauty he sees in Georgiana. LORD RYBURN'S APPRENTICE is a truly heart-warming venture back in time to regency England. Chrissy Dionne (courtesy of Romance Junkies)
