Life changing book

I ordered 10 of these books as it was recommended by a friend and I read it. I then went on to tell my friends and we now have a group of ladies, ranging in age from 21 to 62, who meet and are going through the steps one by one. We were tired of fad diets and wanted something real to help us, get not only in shape, but to get more out of life; this book is just the ticket for that journey. I strongly recommend it as it is full of knowledge, wisdom and practicle advice.

LIFE CHANGING

I read this book and am now going key by key. This book has helped give me have a different outlook on life. You are changing the way you live. This is not a "do it quick" book; it shows you how to change your life for the better. You need to do it on your own schedule.

Absolutely the Best "Healthy Living" Book

I bought this book not quite sure what I was getting, but the concept sounded good. I began the book on a Friday and finished it by Sunday night. I am a Christian so I agree wholeheartedly about Key 1 - Letting God do the Heavy Lifting. Our willpower is our best friend when things are going well, but our downfall when things aren't so peachy. Willpower then takes its leave and in comes reason and believe me, I can reason my way into or out of anything! I'm too tired, I don't want to go to the store, it is just one bite, it won't hurt anything, I don't want to get up early, I don't want to walk - I'm in a hurry, etc. Reason will always let you down. The bible says we are led by God's Spirit, not our own willpower. "Not by might, not by power (or willpower), but by My Spirit says the Lord of hosts". Willpower isn't a bad thing, but instead of relying on it, Joyce teaches us to rely on His Spirit instead. Call on God and ask Him for His strength, His peace, His Joy! The second thing that caught my eye was learning to eat only the foods that God created for me to eat. And that is not just true, it is Gods truth! If we stick to good, healthy food that is as close to the way God created it as it can be, we can't go wrong. Meats, Veggies, Fruits, Nuts, etc. Get rid of the processed junk and eat what God meant for us to eat. I loved this entire book and typed up all of my actions from the 12 keys. I put it above my desk and begin my day reading the entire thing. On my lunch hour I am reading my Bible and getting spiritually fed too. Joyce identifies herself with all of us and does not sit on a pedestal above us. I appreciate that. I also identified with her because my dad sexually, mentally, and physically abused me from age 8 to 13. I didn't have much self esteem until I met the Lord. He told me He loved me and that was all that mattered and I accepted that love. He healed me and gave me a new life. That is why I am such a strong believer and follower of Jesus today. He saved my life and He is my everything as He is Joyces everything. Even if you are not a Christian, you will appreciate all the good advice in this book. Read it and enjoy!

A really great book!

I have seen Joyce Meyer on TV a few times, and I think she is just great. One of my girlfriends always tells me I need to read her books. When I saw this book I thought it would be a great time to stop putting off getting into better shape. After having a child last year, I have been carrying some extra weight. My diet hasn't been the best lately either. This was a very down to earth book that has given me the motivation to take better care of myself. I believe God wants us to take good care of our bodies, and I already feel better just by doing some stretching and moderate exercise in the morning, and eating more salads and less junk food. I decided not to make radical changes that I wouldn't stick with, but gradual efforts that I could handle. This book really helped me to get started. And I naturally like the fact that it's written by a wonderful Christian woman like Joyce Meyer. My friend told me how much she also loves Battlefield of the Mind, so I bought that too and will start that one next. Right now I am reading Passenger's Side which is really incredible. It too has helped me so much. I would highly recommend both of these.

Not bad....

First off I ONLY read this book because I wanted to see if there was anything in it that was worth following. I am not a big fan of televangelists, but this book by Ms. Meyers caught my eye because of three chapters or Keys. Keys 4,5 and 6. Exercise, Balanced eating and Water. And then the last Key 12 Take Responsibility. These are such important keys especially when one looks around at Americans who are amongst the least fit and most obese of any industrialized nation. And the taking responsibility chapter is so important I believe because there is a large (in my opinion) segment who believe that all they have to do is trust God and the weight will drop off. Hard work and self discipline is what produced results. Water is another element I am so glad to see the author writing about because water is so important for a healthy body and healthy life. One need only see how often water is mentioned throughout history. And I was pleased to see her write that water not other beverages is so important for flushing out the system of toxins, which in turn helps the body run better which then results in more efficient burning of fat, and a healthier skin, hair, nails and sleep. At the end of each chapter there is a section where the reader can write down an action they will do that day for that section. Like for the water section, one might write down that they will drink a glass of water every three hours. And the author reminds us that people walked most places and did physical work daily in the past. So simply using a push lawn mower, parking further from a store and walking, or taking the stairs instead of the elevator are simple changes one can do daily. That's the gist of the book which makes it well worth reading even if you are not a believer.
