A passionate exploration of God's love ...

"Longing For You" is, in a sense, a love story, a spiritual love story. It reflects the yearning that individuals feel for God and for the love of God. However, Deborah Cossu has written a book that represents a love story on two levels. One is the level from human to the Almighty. The other level, perhaps less explored, is the fact and realization that God through Jesus extends love to human beings and yearns for a relationship with each one of us. That is very easy to lose sight of in today's hectic and ultra-secular world. In this brief book, Deborah Cossu packs tremendous passion and insight regarding the "two-way street" of love between mankind and God. Cossu is a full-time prayer missionary with the International House of Prayer -- IHOP -- in Kansas City, Missouri. (In this case, IHOP is where you go to get spiritual, not necessarily pancake sustenance!) One word that you will not see a lot of in this blog is the word "church." This is a book about spiritual development, spiritual formation and deepening one's loving relationship with the Almighty. The book is useful not only for its passion in developing these themes but in offering a bullet-pointed list of key takeaways within each chapter. In addition, the book closes with some useful Appendices. One is a list of scriptural references with annotations. The second is an inventory of all the different ways that God is named in the Bible. The third appendix is a brief scripture-based refutation of common ungodly believes. Anyone who has long for a deeper and loving relationship with God would do well to dive into "Longing for You" by Deborah Cossu!

A Must-Read for Those Longing to Know God Loves Them!

This is a book I like to give as a gift whenever I can. The Lord speaks so clearly through Debra as she writes about His love for individuals. My heart is touched deeply every time I read even just a section of this book. It is a must-read for those who long to know the love of their Savior, Jesus Christ, and to know they are cherished by the King of kings and Lord of lords!

Too good to be true!

As I read and reread LONGING FOR YOU, it's as if the truth contained is simply too good to be true! As a Christian believer, can I truly believe, "Christ dwells in my heart,"? Can I truly believe, "I can abound in love."? Can I believe that "HE is the defense of my life."? These are but a few of the LOVING truths presented within the pages of this wonderful book. Too good to be true, yes, but what if, just what if this is the truth? If this love from God the Father is real like the author so convincingly shares, our lives will be different. The truth will change our destiny and the destiny of those around us! God the Father reallly LOVES US! Go tell somebody!

Intimacy

Intimacy has been discussed, bantered about, and cheapened until the concept has become meaningless. This author knows of an intimacy that few have realized. Even Christians rarely touch the heart of God like she has. "Longing For You" is easy to read, but hard to digest. So read a bit, let it sink in. Then go for another portion that will feed the soul and you'll receive more than just a taste of the true intimacy that God has planted in the human spirit
