Our western societies are driven by the passion to build our own paradise. We want to be comfortable but, above all, "happy" which may be read as "free from conflict". Jacobi looks at the story of creation, the story of the Garden of Eden in the Bible and shows the ways in which this story has influenced behaviours down through the ages. Whether or not behaviours of readers change from reading this book, it will at least give them an understanding of the dominant myth which still drives every aspect of life in the western world.
