This is one of the "older" Longarm episodes,actually from August 1992; but boy!,is it ever a humdingerof a Western!!!It's too bad the publishers don't include the name of the actual writers,because I am sure any of the other episodes written by this author would be excellent as well. This saga has all the things that make for a fast-action ,attention binding story. We get a bank holdup,several owlhoots,seeminglyinteresting characters, impossible odds for our hero,Doves of the Old West,fights and shootouts,Indians,Mountain Men,deserts and canyons,lots of great Old West talk and lines.A good bit of old history thrown in,such as Erasmus Beadle a dime novel writer like Ned Buntline, an ancient Hawken rifle,even a qoute from Washington Irvind,the author of Rip Van Winkle by someone who resembles him,and a well identified outlaw that it takes all Longarm's, strength,cunning and determination to track down and bring to justice. It seems that our hero is about to meet his maker when he is left hanging in a tree with a noose around his neck ;but any Longarm fan knows Curtis Long is not to be counted out ,just because he's come to "the end of his rope". If your'e looking for one of the better episodes in this Longarm series;you'll find it with "The Cheyenne Kid." Once again,when some outlaw decides to "take on" Longarm,he doesn't regret it...He just never lives to!!!
