A page-turning, laugh-out-loud, good time.

As a resident of South/Central Texas for the last 27 years, I was delighted to read Lowell Mick White develop his characters in Long Time Ago Good - bringing the human (and animal... ) population of the collected stories to life in fresh, humorous, multi-dimensional, and sympathetic ways. In his exploration of this place and region, a universal portrayal of humanity --oh the complexity, the folly, the wildly entertaining neuroses-- unfolds. Whether you are searching for Texas/Texans, or simply for the prevailing threads of love and insanity that make up the universal human experience, you will be sure to find what you're looking for in this book. A page-turning, laugh-out-loud, good time.

Austin Hilarity

Flannery O'Connor and J.P. Donleavy have nothing on Lowell Mick White! These stories of Austin characters and their outrageous lives are delightful. I could not set Long Time Ago Good down until I turned the last page. I am looking forward to the author's next book!

Good 'Ol, Rip Roaring, Texan Charm

Five stars does NOT do this book justice! These creative short stories had me captivated and enraptured to the point of falling in love with Texas all over again. I caught myself laughing out loud countless times, often at the characters short comings. Who knew that misfortune and life could be such an adventure. This book is an entertaining read, it encompasses every part of Austin that I hold dear to my heart, including the good, the bad, and the ugly. As I turned the page, I was begging that there would be more to follow, I never wanted the stories to end. This collection was brilliantly developed and written. If you get a chance to get your hands on this book don't hesitate, you won't regret it!

Lives I have Not Lived

So I don't read books to confirm who I am, I know who I am. I read books to experience other lives, but lives that I can relate to and might have lived. I like Austin; this book is set mostly in Austin. I like a mixture of humor and grit--this book has that--and I like surprises. The tales told here enriched and surprised me.
