Long, Lean and Lethal

Neither FBI agent Noah Kayne nor local policewoman Rain Huxtable are particularly thrilled when they are forced to partner up. But as a serial killer seems to be stalking the suburban swinging community in Lincoln, Nebraska, they have no choice but to shack up to find the killer before someone else dies. Working undercover as a married couple, the heat between the two immediately kicks into overdrive. Infiltrating the swingers club in which four members are dead is much easier than either expects but discovering the true killer proves far more difficult. Lorie O'Clare expertly mixes action, intrigue, and romance. The sexual tension between the two main characters is not for the faint at heart. Romantic scenes are scorching as first Noah and then Rain fight for dominance both in and out of the bedroom. Longtime fans will enjoy the escapades of two enchanting law enforcement officials finding love while on a deadly case together. //Long, Lean, and Lethal// is the perfect book to read on a long flight or at the dentist or, if you can sneak it in, during a really boring conference call--anytime you need to take your mind off a dull task with some great mind candy. Romance suspense

Long Lean and Lethal is the sequel to Lorie O'Clare's romance suspense about hot FBI agents. In this installment,FBI agent Noah Kayne is paired with the local police Rain Huxtable. Both protest that they work best alone but since the killer is targeting swing couples, they have to work together. Undercover as a married couple, the heat starts immediately. Noah's personality is very dominant and this works for Rain since she gets turned on when fighting and getting in Noah's face throughout the book. The plot for this was really good as you review the information on the previous murders and try to figure out who in the swingers group has decided to pick members off. The suspense kept me turning the pages. The only that bothered me though was the interaction between the hero and the heroine. There was great chemistry between the two and I would have enjoyed their exchanges more if there werent these arguments that turned into weird, aggressive foreplay that led to sex. I'm not sure if O'Clare was trying to play up a Dom/Sub relationship or Dom/Dom with the hero and heroine. An example would be Rain literally "needing" to fight Kane before sex almost every time. It was so out of rhythm with the rest of the story that it stood out. I guess it fit with Rain's aggressive character but romance lovers may be turned off by the almost violent like sex scenes.(nothing humiliating or demeaning.just physical fights) Other than that it was a great story. Nice plot, nice pacing as the story moves through and an excellent mix of story and romance.

Great Plains police procedural romance

The fourth dead spouse leads the Lincoln, Nebraska police department to conclude a serial killer is one the loose although they have not ruled out a paid killer. Still either way they feel out of their league so the brass asks the FBI to help. The Feds send Agent Noah Kayne to assist in apprehending the psychopath. The plan is to use Lincoln PD homicide detective Rain Huxtable as Kayne's swinging spouse to draw out the predator. Rain loathes the role she is expected to play as she prefers being alone. However, once in the part, she does not have to act as Noah's kisses heats her loins ands he feels the same way. Still the pair understands the mission is to infiltrate the swingers club in which four members are dead. This Great Plains police procedural romance is an engaging tale as the lead cops fall in love while masquerading as a loving couple. The sequel to TALL, DARK, AND DEADLY (starring South Dakota) is a fun tale as the pair put on a show; however, the personal relationship never fully gels outside the mission. Still fans will enjoy the escapades of two enchanting law enforcement officials finding love while on a deadly case together. Harriet Klausner
