Great Short Stories from the Lonely Planet writers

If you love travel, you'll love this book. The book is a collection of short stories from the writers of Lonely Planet. It's a great behind the scenes look at the people that put together the high quality books.Charming, funny, and even scary stories make this book a wonderful read. Many of the stories will make you laugh out loud, others will make you thankful that you weren't there! Lonely Planet Unpacked will help you relive your own travel adventures. Only people that have truely traveled (backpacked)will get something out of this book. As for all travelers have their own tales to tell, and this book lets you hear what others have faced in the pursuit of seeing the world. A great read!

Intruiging travel; good stories

While travel "disasters" may be a stretch of things, this is still a good collection of stories. This book accomplishes what any travel anthology ought to: it intrigues and interests the reader, making one want to travel.

Almost Excellent

I actually did expect more, and some of the stories don't live up to the usual editorial excellence of the Lonely Planet. The fact is, yes, some of the stories are not so frightening or horrible. However, they are all well written and interesting. The major criticism I have is actually that the cover says "stories by Tony Wheeler and other Lonely Planet writers." How did he get his name on the friggin' cover for one story, but the editor (Janet Austin) isn't mentioned anywhere. Austin and all the other writers are playing second fiddle to that. Otherwise, it's a reasonably priced gamble if you're looking for a good collection of stories.

An exellent book!

This is a new book from Lonely Planet, and is an anthology of incredible travel stories written by contributors of their regular guidebook series. In short, this is an excellent read! I could not put this book down! All the tales are well-written, but the one that left me in stitches was the story by Brad Wong.
