We're big fans of Larry Lain's books having both London for Families and Paris for Families (our children are adults, but these are great guides for anyone planning a trip to either area). However, I'd never picked up a copy of London for Lovers as I thought it would probably cover sites that might not be as interesting for first time travelers. Wrong. I borrowed a copy this weekend and it is delightful. I wish we'd had it when we went to London this fall. We'd taken London for Families with us and combined with London for the Independent Traveler, Ruth Humleker, had a great time. London for Lovers would have been a fine addition. From planning your dream trip to instructions on using the underground, the black cabs and the trains (we can vouch for those instructions), this book will ensure you have a great time. Two sections I especially liked are the Where to Stay listing of hotels and the listing of pubs and restaurants. Outstanding. Walking, shopping, and London's lovely parks are covered in depth. The final chapter gives suggestions for day and weekend trips from London. A nice addition to a future edition of this guide would be the tips on planning your first day in London and the suggestions for packing that are included in London for Families. But, those two additions would be just a minor improvement to this great guide to enjoying London.
