The book went on to influence some of the major figures of 20th century art and literature, including Marcel Duchamp, Alain Robbe-Grillet, John Ashbery, and Harry Mathews. Now the visual artist, novelist, and media theorist Mark Amerika has performatively remixed Roussel's text for his own ends.
