Great book for Black History Month

Anyone who gives this book anything less than 4 or 5 stars missed the mark. "Lizzie's Story: A Slave Family's Journey To Freedom" by Clarice Boswell is a testament to a writer who really put in a massive amount of work to bring her story to life. Clarice researched her families history through bibles and by talking with family members, although a few names have been changed she says the story is true. Some of her families archives date back to 1876. The book even includes pictures of her family members and maps of where the family entered the country during slavery times. I LOVED this book. Clarice deserves awards for her slave time tale. Times may have changed and we have technology and other things, but just the love shown by the family trying to stay together and support each other, it just made me feel good about being an African-American mother in 2004. This is a great book for black history month. Clarice Boswell is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta and she is very well known in the Chicagoland area for her quilt exhibits. I enjoyed all of the pictures in the book. The book also includes a family time-line from 1850-2001.
