Ahh, Grand Teton National Park The mighty Tetons dominate over Jackson Lake and the surrounding landscape. Tall pines and taller mountains. Teaming with all sorts of wildlife. Lizard Creek Campground sits in the middle of this paradise, right on Jackson Lake, eight miles in either direction from any other human facilities. No other buildings in the Campground except three restrooms and one little bitty log cabin office. Daily visits by all sorts of wildlife. Over 11,000 campers during a short, 3-month season. What a perfect environment But when you mix in all the unpredictable variables of living, breathing people, wild animals, nature's fury and camping contraptions, the pendulum swings freely from the challenging to the absurdly funny. A big brown hairy butt - the south end of a huge grizzly headed north - can change your whole day. Throw Bill and Barb, the newbie campground hosts, into the brew, and you sometimes wind up with mayhem. Pre-conceived ideas of what they thought it would be like to be a campground host have been beaten around and re-formed. Bill learned a whole new way to use the term "bone-headed moron". They learned a ton. Would they do it again? Heck, yeah Would you want to try it? You'll have to make your own mind up on that.
