This is by far one of the very best kid's books that I have seen (and we have A LOT). The pictures are beautiful, with tons of wonderful and intricate details that children love to look at. The scenes depicted are often idyllic, with images of farms, animals, wonderful open space, and people moving about having fun and doing their work. The four stories are not *ground breaking*, but they are sweet and fun adventure tales of a train engineer and his red train. We all love reading this book and staring at the gorgeous pictures. I highly recommend this book!
4 great stories, even better pictures

This is a great storybook collection for 2-6 year olds. The stories are about 7 minutes long, and the pictures are so detailed, that they are stories in themselves for the older kids. I have read them to my daughter and son for 3 years now, and they don't get tired of hearing the stories, and I'm not tired of telling them!
Scre-eech!

My 3-year old boy absolutely loves this book. The repetition in the story line makes it predictable enough to understand for him, and he loves the illustrations and noises the train makes throughout the stories. It's his favorite bedtime storybook.
A great set of stories!

A really nice book for children. Our son loves the Thomas videos and books; and when I saw this on sale at a local bookstore, I thought I would try this one out too. It is illustrated and written by Blathwayt (I must admit that I am partial to an author who illustrates his own books). This books includes the stories "The Runaway Train," "Little Red Train to the Rescue," "Faster, Faster, Little Red Train," and "Green Light for the Little Red Train." (By the way, this books seems to include the three stories from the Little Red Train Gift Collection.) The pictures are just wonderful have a ton of little things to find. The stories are very nice. There's nothing that you'd have to worry about exposing children to. My son is two and a half years old and can really enjoy the books. There are some sound effects in the story (the train goes chuffity-chuff for example) that he likes hearing, but not so many as to be annoying to an adult. I think that he will sontinue to enjoy these stories for a few more years to come (longer than I expect most of his Thomas books to hold their appeal), especially since they are accompanied by such captivating pictures.
