The stories with Little Black suit young readers not yet ready for the Black Stallion books. In this one, the young boy teaches his black pony tricks. When a circus comes to town, they ride over to see the animals unloaded. The pony mimics one of the circus pony's tricks and the circus owner wants to keep him. In the end, Little Black chooses his boy over the glamorous life with the circus. The illustrations are colorful and lively and the story keeps young readers focused. It's too bad this isn't widely available now.
Nothing more precious than this book

I remember my 2 year old daughter who could "read" this book as she had memorized the book and knew when to "say" the words based upon each picture. That tells you how many times she wanted myself and my wife to read the book to her. It is a precious book and somehow clicks beyond imaginations with little children. This book is already a classic with little children.
Wonderful, Imaginative Book For Young Children

I first read this book when I was about 8 and loved it. Many libraries today don't have a copy of this book and so a lot of modern children have never read it. Wonderful book with fantastic drawings and a very imaginative plot. Bring this book back into print!
Little Black Goes to the Circus!
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 21 years ago
The book was about a black pony names Little Black. The circus was in town and he went to check it out with his owner. When there he tried to do what the circus pony did, he stood on his two feet but feel down. They were laughed out of the circus. They went to an open field, where the owner to cheer the pony up, made there own circus. The pony walked across a plank and ran off back to the circus where he walked the planks but almost fell on one...I think the lesson was never underestimate something by one thing, and you have to earn respect. The age level would be 6-8.This book was a very good book because of the lesson it teaches and the excitement in it.
