Introduce a new generation of children to Little Bear, the classic, beloved character from Else Holmelund Minarik and Maurice Sendak, with this boxed gift set containing three paperback editions in... This description may be from another edition of this product.
The book arrives quickly and in the condition it was listed as. Unfortunately, it did not contain the stories listed in the description (Little Bear, Father Bear Comes Home, Little Bear’s Visit). Instead it contained Little Bear, Little Bear’s Friend, and Little Bear’s visit. This was frustrating to me because I also purchased a copy of Little Bear’s Friend individually to try to cover all the books needed for our homeschool curriculum. So now I have two copies of Little Bear’s Friend and no copy of Father Bear Comes home.

The book is fine, however the description says the second book in the collection was Father Bear Comes Home, when it is actually Little Bear's friend. I bought a seperate copy of that one so now I have a duplicate 🤔
A Sweet Children’s Book

My 5 & 8yr olds really enjoy the Little Bear series. The gentle storytelling is soothing to both and the simplistic writing is excellent for my beginner reader.

Great book for modeling manners

Love the text & the Sendak illustrations! So many texts try to teach manners by examples of bad manners. I'd much rather expose my 2-1/2 year-old son to books where the characters behave with sensitivity toward others. I remembered this from my childhood, and was not disappointed when I revisited it. For the same purpose, I also like A.A.Milne (Winnie the Pooh) and Jocelyn's "What do you say, dear" (which is more didatic, but the humorous tone & wild illustrations more than make up for it). Obviously, there's more to Little Bear (and the Winnie the Pooh stories) than sensitivity to others, but the mannerliness of the characters and the great illustrations are a big plus for me.

Wonderful for the beginning reader!

The Little Bear books give the children an array of animal characters, so they are perfect for the child who loves animals. The animals are in friendly settings with family and friends, so the stories are easy to identify with. My granddaughter has improved her reading considerably because she loves to read these stories.
A great value on wonderful stories

These stories are engaging and very well written for little children. My son, who is 2 1/2, loves Little Bear and was very happy that we had books about him to read in addition to watching the cartoons on Noggin. The set has a variety of brief stories that are appropriate for small children's attention span and awareness levels. The only minor issue we have with these books is that they are a bit flimsy but that is a very minor issue given their wonderful content.

Ever since I was a little girl I've enjoyeed the Little Bear series of books. These short stories have a timeless charm that enchant both reader and listener. The stories bring to life the thoughts and experiences of young children through the main character, Little Bear, with his friends and family. Meeting a new friend, exploring the moon, visiting grandparents, waiting for a parent to return home from a business trip and listening to stories are some of the topics for these beautifully written stories. Once again I've learned to love these books all over again with my daughter. Her name is Emily and she loves hearing her name when the stories are read to her! These are wonderful stories that are just the right length for bed time reading. Enjoy!
