Listening for God

This was an excellent book on the practice of listening for God's voice. I am in the learning stage of trying to sit still, listen for His voice and journal our dialogue. This book gave me a very practical approach and really spoke to me about the need to listen and journal. It will change your life.

Excellent book!

This was a great book for everyone out there that really wants to start their devotional life and really don't know how. So many times I have tried to read the bible, or any other devotional source, and had trouble because it was like "school work". This author describes how you can start today developing your personal relationship with God. This was a book that our ladies group purchased and passed around to take turns reading. I liked it so much that I purchased my own copy! I highly recommend.

A Great Book from a Great Lady

Marilyn Hontz is the mother of one of my childhood friends, Paul. Paul and I grew up living about a mile from each other, and spent a decent amount of time playing at the Hontz house. While I spent time there, I often noticed what an amazing woman and mother Marilyn was. She was so kind and gentle, rarely raising her voice to anyone. Also, she spoke every so often at Central Wesleyan Church, which her husband, Paul Sr., pastors. It was always a joy to hear Marilyn speak. She spoke with such clarity and honesty. Her love for God was obvious in teh way she spoke, so calm yet passionate. From reading this book, I have realised that Marilyn has put all of these qualities, and her wisdom, onto the pages. This book offers timeless advice taken from what God has taught Marilyn through His word and her everyday life. I would recommend this book for people of all ages.

Very Practical and Life Changing

This book has completely revolutionized my quiet times. I especially love her hints about journaling. I used to journal (as a diary, not Scripture) a few years ago, but got away from it. I have to admit, I was somewhat hestitant to start again. But I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. It has been awesome learning to recognize God's voice. Marilyn offers some great insights and practical hints. I highly recommend this book to any Christian who desires how to learn to hear God's voice for yourself. This is one book you will definitely want to read more than once. Marilyn doesn't come across at all as "I have all the answers" in fact, she readily admits she doesn't have all the answers. Her honesty and vulnerablilty about her own struggles are refreshing. Her writing style is like a long talk with an close friend.

Listening for God - A Book to be Read

I highly recommend this book to Christians at any point in their spiritual journey. It is insightful and clear in the tangible actions an individual can take to replenish or begin their prayer life. Marilyn Hontz writes with a warm and inviting style, as though she was sitting next to you, having a conversation.
