pretty good

another book that i've had for years and never read. well i just finished it last night. it was pretty good. i could've done without all the "Girlfriend" this and that, but she gave some good advice. it did seem like she jumped around, but i was able to pay attention. to me the book seemed more about her relationship, it wasn't full of advice.

Some of the BEST advice for girls today

"Ain't no skinny chick dyin to get outta me!" Mother Love proclaims. But neither does she condone sloth, laziness, letting your hygiene go, or negative attitudes. Never have I heard more practical advice from a more entertaining source. If you have a teenage daughter, I highly recommend finding this book and letting her read it. Mother Love's advice against being a "skaintch" and attracting "dunderheads" is priceless. In her comical and chatty way, she empowers young women to watch after themselves, respect themselves enough to "keep their panties on their bodies and not in their purse", and not to put up with "dunderheads" (lousy men). In her words, "Life is too short to be riddled with problems you can't deal with - his or yours. And life is too short to waste with someone your uncomfortable with - including yourself." Solid, old-fashioned advice for modern women. I took Mother Love's advice for myself in 1995, and then shared the book with my niece and stepdaughter. Every girl should read this. Hard times don't mean you have to settle for a hard man. Rich or poor, Radio Personality or Welfare Mom, a woman needs to respect who she is. And Mother Love will give you the whole skinny on that! I highly recommend this book, its informative and entertaining. Enjoy!

The Mother Of All Advice

Mother Love has but one philosophy..."When you know better make sure you do better." We are supposed to learn from our mistakes, not repeat them and Mother Love wants all girls to learn from hers. Personal advice from what to do if your relatives want to move in, do you tell your kids if your man is having an affair, to how not to allow boredom to lapse into laziness is intertwined with the story of Mother Love who went from welfare to TV and radio personality. She tells all in a running conversational style dialogue that kept me flipping pages, even when I winced at how well she seemed to know me. Travel along with Mother L from her childhood in the projects to her prom, wedding, childbirth, single motherhood, bus driving, and success and realize that rich or poor, all women have the same basic problems to solve. It'll make you laugh and yeah, you're gonna cry.
