Great Read-Aloud in Elementary Grades

Lion Singer is a fantastic story well-suited for read-aloud in the elementary grades. It matches with many standards for teaching Native American history, especially in California grades 2-4. It will generate class discussions about topics like history, responsibility, courage and family. It can also be used for exposure to language arts standards such as plot and characterization. It's a book kids will want to hear and read several times. Every California classroom should have a copy.
