Excellent Self Study Book

I recently passed the Linux+ exam self studying using this book. It covers all the basis of the exam, with good pictures and to the point explanations. The author Trevor Kay has done a great job at keeping each topic simple to understand (I was a newbie at Linux when I started studying). I am confident that you will pass this exam if you take the time to study this book thoroughly.

Very Complete, More then Enough

I passed the Linux+ exam with no problems from using this book. I recommend reading the book cover to cover first then go back a second time and focus on the sections the Author recommends. These new Certification Bible series books are very very good compared to the other study books out there. Check it out for yourself.

This is the one people, this one works!!!

This is the one my friends I swear it. I took this exam three times folks three. First I used the Sybex, and Exam Cram Books for this exam study for about 2 months. I was very confident and took the test. I got a rude awakening and thought maybe I needed a little more practice on my commands. Two weeks later went and took the test again and failed. Then I thought to myself something is not right. I thought that maybe I need some other study material. Thats when I purchased this book and everything started to click. Especially with the hands on projects that helped even more and reinforced what I had learned. Then people on March 7 of this year I became Linux+ Certified. I am telling once again this is the book.

Beginning to end Fantastic

I just took the Comptia Linux+ exam and passed! On a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being easy and 10 being hard) I would give the Linux+ exam a 6. The Linux+ Certification Bible from top to bottom is a very excellent resource for this exam.If you are new to Linux and want to get this certification under your belt, I recommend this book because it covers each of the exam objective one after the other throughout the book. The CD-ROM that comes with the book has some free Linux programs on it and a test engine with tons of practice exam questions.

Excellent Resource for the Linux+ exam

An excellent book that covers all the Linux+ objectives by focusing on each objective then giving you the information you need and what to expect on the Linux+ exam. The book breaks down each section into six different parts. Part 1: Introduces Linux to the reader and goes into detail about understanding the Linux Kernel, packages, packaging solutions, and the different distributions available. Part 2. Covers installing Linux. Pre-installation planning is covered along with detailed instructions on how to perform a GUI Linux installation or a Text Based Installation both accompanied with detailed graphics.Part 3 is for configuring the Linux system once it has been installed. This part covers configuring X-Windows, Networking and User Environment settings. Part 4 is about Linux Administration. This section covers User and Group administration, including creating groups, adding and deleting users along with Chapter 11 (which I was very impressed with) that goes into excellent detail about Linux System Commands (A must know for the Linux+ exam).Part 5 deals with Maintaining a Linux System, such as system and disk management, and process management, Linux Security and Backing up your Linux System.Part 6 I was also very impressed with, since it does go into detail about Troubleshooting and Maintaining system Hardware. Including troubleshooting the boot process, hardware, software and Networking. The Linux+ exam goes into detail about all these topics. This section of the Linux+ exam is similar to the hardware exam for the A+ certification. The book is full of pre-chapter and end chapter test questions along with an 80 question practice exam at the end of the book. A CD-ROM accompanies the book that includes Hundreds of Linux+ practice test questions along with detailed answers and tons of programs the Linux user can use in the real world (at home or on the job). Also the CD-ROM comes with the entire Linux+ Certifications Bible in Adobe PDF format. Overall a fair value that gives you what you need for the Linux+ exam and more.
