Sandy Fillmore is a young widow who had a bad marriage. She's raising her young twin girls by herself as she runs the nursery her grandmother left her. She lives in a wooded area outside of town in Oregon and she's giving a series of lectures on landscaping at the local college. She shows up at the school early one day and decides to take a half hour nap in her car before starting her day, because she needs to grab a little sleep whenever she can. When she wakes, she knocks over a man with her car door and he falls in a puddle. The man, Dr. Richard Gearing, had bent over to tie his shoelaces. But instead of being angry he's kind of taken with Sandy. He'd come to the campus to check on the Marketing Department as he'd been asked to head it. One look at Sandy and he knows he's taking the job. What's more, when he comes back to town a mother later by coincidence he moves just down the river from Sandy with his young son Roger. Roger's mother had other things in mind to do with her life and a child didn't fit in, so Richard has custody and it appears that he's also going to get custody of Sandy's heart."Light Another Candle" is a nice and refreshing romance. So many of the ones that have come out since the turn of the millennium focus on cops, robbers, rodeos, riders and a whole host of other stuff that gets in the way of the romance. Not here. This one was just divine.Oh yes, I didn't want to forget to mention the cutiest character I've come across in a romance in a heck of a long time and that's Never, the Raven that used to belong to Sandy's grandmother. He's a bird to die for.
