Support and Insight Into Family Adaptation

This volume contains a wealth of information suitable for parents, professionals and students. The authors have arranged the content in an intelligent, easy-to-access manner. I found the "focus" points in each chapter particularly useful in locating specific information. Careful consieration is given to the impact which disability has upon the family's psychosocial functioning as well as the child's devlopmental course in school. Suggestions supporting the attainment of his or her optimal level of autonomy and independence are also offered. As a clinician, I particularly valued the thoughts and recommendations concerning collaborative relationships between families and professionals. This volume should prove valuable and thought-provoking to anyone concerned with the challenges posed by disability.
