I am truly grateful for the founding principles of our country and the fundamental teachings of the Word of God that encourages and enables each of us to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And I firmly believe that we must find those things that would provide for us a state of comfort and contentment. The United States Declaration of Independence, which was primarily drafted by Thomas Jefferson, was adopted by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. The text of the second section of the Declaration of Independence reads, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness." The prophet Nehemiah declared, "be not grieved and depressed, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and stronghold" (Nehemiah 8:10 Amplified Bible). The words of Solomon portrayed the essence and the essentialness of being happy. He said, "A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones" (Proverbs 17:22 Amplified Bible). Therefore, it should be the desire of our democratic country and is the desire of our divine creator that we experience and enjoy the contentment (happiness, laughter, joyfulness) found in a state of life and liberty. Over the thirteen chapters of this book, I wish to convey the importance of living -- not just existing. I shall endeavor to stress the necessity of experiencing liberty of mind, body and soul; thus knowing the freedom of choice and commitment. I will attempt to spice up your life with a bit of humor and in doing so poke no fun at any particular classification of individuals (clergy, children, couples, country folk and senior citizens).
