This is a book written for middle school age readers, but that should work as a picture book browser for younger ages, and also as an excellent primer on the topic of the French Revolution for anyone (e.g., adults). About 100 pages with abundant 'period' illustrations and text appropriate for the average high school (private school, at least) reader, this book covers this bloody and ill-fated revolution from its regal seeds to its eventual descent into the Napoleonic era. Quite complete. Also provides a few relevant maps, and several sidebars on French life and culture, political science issues, theories of the Revolution, and other useful tidbits.
