Letty is young and innocent. She falls in love with Harry Tyne, a fascinating older man. Rather than take advantage of her, Harry puts her under the protection of a number of other colorful characters, and they go traveling through Europe together. Letty is always getting into mischief and she doesn't realize that the reason Harry is always scolding her is because he is secretly falling in love with her. When he sends her back to England to live with his elderly maiden aunt, she feels very sulky and reluctant. But it all works out well in the end. Letty is an adorable heroine.

I am surprised that Clare Darcy is almost a forgotton authoress. Her plots, characters and dialogue are excellent. I was very happy to be introduced to her books, now that I have read and re read all of Georgette Heyers books. I have a whole new writer to look forward to !Its a shame that Darcy is not that well publicised as her books are a rare treat for people who enjoy books about the regency period. Especially since books by contemporary authors like Julia Quinn are very popular but which alas lack the charm, wit, plot, description and any research about the regency era whatsoever.I would highly reccomend Ms.Darcys books.
