World war ll Romantic Fiction

I loved this book ! It is a tender, insightful, and deeply felt story. It is a story about friendships, relationships, forgiveness and loss, hope and starting over. It takes place in Chicago at a USO dance, where 3 girlfriends meet up, one who is a singer, on stage, the other two students. The two girls who are students are engaged and going to school, one has a boyfriend in the navy, the other's boyfriend is studying law, and is being groomed to help his father get elected into the Senate. The girl Liz, who's boyfriend is helping the Father get elected, is asked to dance by a very handsome Soldier, who along with his younger brother are being shipped out the next day with their orders for overseas. The Soldier Morgan is smitten with Liz,from the moment he laid eyes on her, and as they dance, she is scared at her feelings she is experiencing for this man Morgan, she barely knows, but can't deny that they are there, as she feels a sudden interest in him too. Their brief exchange is cut Short, when Liz returns from the Ladies room, to see Morgan dancing with her girlfriend Betty, who is the singer on stage, and very beautiful. Liz thinks Morgan is interested in Betty, so Liz, backs away without a word to Morgan, not even a good bye. Little does Liz know, that Morgan was waiting for Liz to come out of the ladies room, Betty comes running over to him, begging him to dance with her, to help her get rid of an unruly drunken sailor, that won't stop bothering her. She practically drags Morgan onto the dance floor, as he's still waiting and looking for Liz. Fast forward a few weeks, Betty get her very first letter from Morgan telling her about all the experience of their transfer overseas..the rough boat rides into Europe, and the Absolute horrors, that awaited them as they leave the Ships to trying to reach the beaches. The Hundreds, upon Hundreds of US soldiers, cut down as they came out of the water. He asks her to please continue to write him, part as a way to keep his sanity and to have someone to share with, all that he is going through. Betty who is kinda a dim wit...tells the girls about his letter, and Begs Liz, her smart college girlfriend to help her write the letter. Liz doesn't really want to get involved, but says she'll help her just this once.Especially when she realizes it's a letter from Morgan, who she can't stop thinking about, since the dance. But once turns into several, as Morgan waits for each letter from "Betty" to help him through the horrible nightmares of war. Liz, who is ghostwriting as "Betty" is touched by Morgans, feelings, and honesty, and realizes that she has stronger feelings, and more in common with him, than her boyfriend, who is growing further from her, as he takes his path into politics. Oh you just Can't BELIEVE the twist and turns this story takes with all three of the girls life's!!! IT is SOOO GOOD !! The Characters are heartful, and warm, you can't help but love them and the intimate moments they share, it is romantic, and charming, and heartful, as you feel all that our poor soldiers experienced, in the atmosphere of war. It is a great read from beginning to end, An easy read that lingers in your mind, well after its done. So Happy I picked this book on a whim ! Just A great easy, Read !

Good. Hate the back and forth, gets confusing but ends nicely like you would think. Not a keeeper b

A one time read. Give away. Not too cheesey but confusing with the back and forth between4 characters. Decent but I keep books to re read and this one im not.

Love!

I needed a break from the murder mysteries I was reading and this was a pleasant switch. It's a cute and relaxing read, following the lives of 3 young ladies during the war and where life takes them. Not overly emotional but just sweet enough. A good book to read on a sunny sunday longing in the backyard.

Wonderful, heartfelt story in time of the World War!

This was one of the most amazing books I have read. It was letters back and forth between a soldier and girl at home. The writing really brings you to the time period. It pulled at your heartstrings! I would recommend if you are looking for a love story or you love the time period. It is fast paced. I could not put it down!
