Richard Hall's work is not as familiar to readers today as it should be. He wrote several novels and plays in the 1970s-early 1990s. The majority of his work was published in the late 1970s-1980s, when fiction written by gay men became a solid publishing phenomenom. This collection of stories was perhaps his most accessible work (I've read almost all of his published writings except for an early novel). The title story is especially fine and moving, worthy to be categorized as "literature."
