Let Me Bee

Let Me Bee is about unfounded fear and how children can reduce these anxieties as they learn and understand more about the source of their alarm. A little boy is, understandably, afraid of bees. Let Me BEE

This book was purchased for preschool use (3-5 yrs). The children were afraid of the bees they saw in the playground, and would often scream and run from them. After going over the book with them they came to understand how important bees are and that they really don't want to come after us and sting us. The illustrations and story is very child friendly and has helped our group enjoy the bees instead of fearing them.

A children's picturebook about the importance of overcoming fear, and learning to live and let live

Let Me Bee is a children's picturebook about the importance of overcoming fear, and learning to live and let live. A young boy is fearful of beestings, but a simple honeybee explains to him that honeybees, unlike wasps and hornets, simply want to gather nectar in peace. (The rare cases of people who have allergies to bee stings are not addressed.) "The word 'Apiphobia' / Stands for this fear / That lots of kids have / When a bee gets too near. // There are so many things / That you can do / To make sure apiphobia / Never happens to you. // Read books about bees / And articles, too. / Go to insect exhibits / Down at the zoo." Simple, charming colorful illustrations that resemble paper cut-outs add the perfect touch to this book about learning to regard simple creatures with a realistic rather than over defensive perspective.
