Published in conjunction with the exhibition "Lenore Tawney : A Retrospective." "Lenore Tawney has long been acknowledged as a pioneer in the transformation of contemporary fiber art. With this exhibition, the first comprehensive retrospective of Tawney's fiber, collage, and assemblage, the American Craft Museum both honors the artist and reaffirms the significance of her contribution, not only to the craft continuum but to the history of late twentieth-century art. Through the illustrations of her work, entries from her personal journals, and four thoughtful and cogent essays, the catalogue establishes a chronology of Tawney's life, considers its impact, and conveys the remarkable spirit of this American pioneer." - from the dust jacket

This book is indeed quite inspiring and breathtaking - as an artist myself, I am drawn to the way that this book discusses the wonderful Lenore Tawney's art and also provides excellent examples of her art work. I also treasure this book for its clarity of presentation; it is indeed a rare find. I was fortunate to have actually seen the amazing travelling retrospective show (1990) : and this book provides the next best thing!
Excellent retrospective!
