Beautiful Story!

This book is a great love story. The depth and purity of Reena and Mangus's love is inspired. Rarely do you read a romance novel where the hero and heroine are not at odds with each other at some point in the story. In this story, the two characters start off in a friendship filled with mutual respect and complete trust in on another. The friendship and physical attraction develop into a deeply loving and caring relationship where neither character every doubts the others motives or feelings. There is even a sub-plot love story between Thomas, Mangus's friend, and Brigid, Reena's friend that is just as sweet and loving as the main story. This book is very refreshing and I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading other books by Ms. Fletcher

delightful sixteenth century Irish romance

In the sixteenth century Ireland, Reena Callen grew up hearing tales about the "Legend" from her father. Now a young adult, Reena worries that her village will starve to death due to the malevolent treatment of the new Earl Peter Kilkern. When a villager John challenges the edict, Peter has his arm sliced off and has other townsfolk killed.Reena dresses up as a lad and travels to the estate of the Legend to gain his help. She displays courage as she asks him to defend her villagers in exchange for her precise mapmaking skills. The Legend Magnus accepts her terms. They journey to her village where he relocates everyone onto one of his estates vowing to keep them safe and warning Peter to stay away from them. As Reena and Magnus become acquainted they fall in love, but first must deal with the vile Peter who feels he has been slighted by the relocation of his villagers.Though there is some confusion over the age of the hero, this delightful sixteenth century Irish romance is a fun tale that feels more like a medieval story. Fans will admire the courage of Reena and the loyalty of Magnus' best friend, but mostly appreciate the strength and responsibility shown by Magnus. Though Peter is so malevolent that he offers not one redeeming quality so that fans will want him to receive his just award, LEGENDARY WARRIOR is a fine historical that transports the audience into the past with an ease that reflects on the author. More works like this and readers will call Donna Fletcher the legend.Harriet Klausner

No Secrets Here - This is a GREAT Read!

Setting Ireland 1500s --- Reena Cullen grew up on stories of the "Legend", a warrior, fierce, proud and feared; one who often didn't have to fight as his mere presence would send enemies running for their lives as the tales of his ferociousness and lack of mercy to his enemies preceded him. Reena, fearing the worst to come was no coward, and when the plight of her village was so critical from the cruel and heartless Earl of Culberry, she knew that the "Legend" would be the only person who could save them. Dressed as a young lad, she set out to find him. Not far from home, she would encounter a knight, totally garbed in black astride a charging stallion as Reena was struck with fear and unable to move. He swooped down and plucked her onto his saddle thinking her young lad. Not wanting to deceive him, she pulled off the concealing cap to show that she was female and not a `lad' as he had assumed by her slight and undernourished figure. Offering her mapmaking skills she bargained with him for his protection and assistance for the people of her village. Magnus, the "Legend", was impressed with both her courage, first in seeking him out, and her mapmaking drawing skills. He agreed never thinking that, this skinny, independent and brave slip of a girl would soon capture his heart. For Reena, it was a matter of accepting as a package the gentle man Magnus from the fearsome "Legend" This was a romance in every sense of the word. The hero was divinely handsome, strong, brave and gentle, and the heroine wonderfully gifted, intelligent and selfless. It wasn't a love at first glance all-consuming passionate encounter, but a very deep and satisfying love story that took its time to develop as each came to admire and love one another for who and what they were. The writing was fresh, spontaneous and with enough mystery to keep you turning the pages to discover the `secrets' behind the Legendary Warrior. Readers will find this to be a lovely, comfortable and totally satisfying read. --- Submitted by Marilyn, Official Reviewer for www.historicromancewriters.com
